Catfishing Tips

Catfishing Tips    Weather
Weather plays another big part in catfish fishing.  Spring and summer time seems to be the most popular time for catfishing because the water temperature is fairly warm.

Catfishing Tips    Holding on to your catch
After you have caught the big one, be sure that put your catfish in an ice chest or on a nice size rope tied down to a tree or a chair if you fishing from shore. If you are on a boat put your catch in your fish tank.

Catfishing Tips    Cleaning your Catfish
Catfish do not have scales, so you don’t have to scale catfish. But however, catfish does have thick leather like skin on there outer layer. You have to pull the outer layer of skin off with pliers or catfish skinners. After you have removed the skin from your catfish, cut the fish down the belly and remove the inners, then remove the head. Be sure you don’t bust the stink bag because in most fish it is poison or toxic.

Catfishing Tips    Fishing Gear Care
After you’re done fishing for the day, you should clean your rod and oil your reel. Good care and maintenance will help you keep replacement cost down. If you know, like I know, fishing tackle is not cheap.

F.Y.I
There are several varieties of catfish, with their numerous species round out the order Ostariophysi. While perhaps best known as fresh-water fish of warm regions, some species are sea-dwellers. The blue catfish of the Mississippi river drainage area may weigh as much as 150 pounds, and it is considered excellent eating.
