Bass Fishing at Silverwood Lake
State Recreation Park in Southern California
Well the big day is finally here. We waited all week long to go to Silverwood Lake where everybody I’ve talk to over the pass six months are so has said, the bass fishing at Silverwood Lake is the best. The lake is also stocked with trout, catfish, bluegill and perch. So it’s Saturday morning and we’re all packed up and ready to go. We arrive at the lake at 5:30 am, pay the fee’s then launch the boat and now we’re ready to start some bass fishing.
It’s now 6:10 am, I started the day with a buzz bait and a zarra spook, I bagged my first 4lb bass and waited for number 2, with no more luck until around 9:00 am I decided to go into the old tackle box and add a spinner bait that’s when I bagged #2 which was a 5 pounder. The day started looking a little bit brighter as the excitement pick up. Buzz bait, zarra spook, and spinner bait or usually your best bets until around 10:30 am, that’s when it starts to get warm. Now that it’s warmer it’s time to use the Ikka, this bait will work all day it’s your go bait. But if you want to switch it up, go to the split shot rig or worm as the hotter it gets the bass will go deeper.
The time now is 12:00 noon, the Ikka, worm and split shot rig still work but you can also use crank bait now. As you look at the lake there are (8) coves, those coves are very useful during this time of day because any type of structure change such as the wind blowing from the east the bass will get very active. Now its 2:00 pm it’s time to use the pig n jig. When the bass hit a pig n jig you have to watch your line, this bait is a Big Bass Bait, the bass that hit this bait don’t hit like small bass, the big bass will suck the bait in, the line twitch hard reel in the slack and set the hook.
It’s now 4:00 pm, now is the time to use your swim bait, as the day starts getting cooler throw this bait at all points of the coves. Any change in the shore line water direction cast to it and slowly reel in. Don’t forget about the Ikka you can also start using spinner bait, jerk bait you can pretty much use your whole lineup now until you get your limit for the day. Oh!!! I almost forgot I caught my limit at 11:05 am.
Once again thanks for visiting
